The Role
As a Chef at The Barley Mow, you’ll be a key contributor to our culinary team, creating delicious dishes and ensuring that our patrons enjoy exceptional dining experiences. Your culinary expertise will play a vital role in upholding our reputation for outstanding food.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes, following established recipes and maintaining consistency.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop and innovate menu items.
- Oversee kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and quality control of ingredients.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, maintaining a cohesive and efficient team.
- Monitor kitchen equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
- Contribute to menu planning and specials creation.
- Creatively address dietary restrictions and special requests from guests.
- Work closely with the Front of House team to ensure smooth service.
- Uphold a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Collaborate with senior management to achieve culinary and business objectives.
The Ideal Candidate:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a pub or restaurant setting.
- Culinary degree or relevant certifications is a plus.
- Strong cooking skills and creativity in menu development.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to manage a busy kitchen and lead a team.
- Familiarity with inventory management and ordering processes.
